espi has engaged in numerous projects evaluating, selecting, and implementing various business information systems.  Most common of these types of projects is for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. Everyone has heard a story of an implementation going horribly wrong.  To ensure that your next implementation project is a success espi is sharing these 10 key success factors.  First was the importance of Management Commitment now let's better understand Benefit Realization.

2. Benefit Realization

What it Means: If you don’t know what benefits you want to realize then implementation will suffer. Of course, the decision to invest in a new ERP system was to correct inefficiencies, but too often the goals are broad brush and fail to drill down into specifics.

Why it Matters: With documented benefit realization in place, everyone knows what to expect from the process, technology and people involved. By creating a comprehensive set of benefits, Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) can then be established to support these objectives and determine the company’s ROI both short-term and long-term.
